Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Meritly (Android package com.crunchcodelabs.meritly),
published by CrunchCode Labs, handles your information. In short: what you record stays
on your phone, and nothing leaves it unless you turn on Google Drive backup.
Effective date: 7 November 2026
1. Information you add to the app
Meritly stores what you enter into it:
- Merits: the date, description and categories you give each one
- Photos you attach to a merit, taken with the camera or chosen from your gallery
- Categories, goals and reminder settings
- App preferences, such as the light or dark theme
This information is stored only on your device, in the app’s private storage. CrunchCode Labs has no server that receives it and cannot see it.
2. Photos and the camera
When you attach a photo, the app asks Android to open the camera or the photo picker. Only the photos you choose are used. Each one is compressed and copied into the app’s private storage; the app does not read or upload the rest of your gallery.
3. Reminders
Goal reminders are scheduled on your device using Android notifications. The app asks for permission to show notifications and to restore your reminders after the phone restarts. Reminder text, including the quotes, is packaged inside the app.
4. Google Drive backup (optional)
Backup is off until you turn it on. If you do:
- You sign in with your Google account, and the app asks for access to its own hidden app-data folder in your Google Drive. It cannot see or change any other file in your Drive.
- A backup is a single archive of your merits database and your attached photos, uploaded to that folder in your Drive. It is not sent to CrunchCode Labs.
- The app shows the email address of the signed-in account so you know where backups go. It is not stored anywhere else or shared.
Your use of Google Drive is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. You can sign out at any time from the app’s backup settings, and you can remove the app’s backup data from your Google Drive settings under Manage apps.
5. What the app does not do
- It shows no advertising
- It contains no analytics or tracking tools
- It has no account with CrunchCode Labs and no server of ours to sign in to
- It does not sell or share your information with anyone
6. Android system backup
Like most Android apps, Meritly may be included in your device’s own backup to your Google account if you have turned that on in Android settings. That backup is managed by Google and Android, not by CrunchCode Labs.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual merits and photos in the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes everything stored on the device. Backups in your Google Drive remain until you delete them as described in section 4.
8. Children
Meritly is not directed at children under 13, and CrunchCode Labs does not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app keeps information on the device, no information is collected by CrunchCode Labs from any user.
9. Security
Your data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read. Backups are transferred to Google Drive over an encrypted connection. Protecting your device with a screen lock helps keep your merits private.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app changes. The effective date above will change when it does, and significant changes will be noted in the Play Store release notes.
