Terms & Conditions
These Terms govern your use of Meritly (Android package com.crunchcodelabs.meritly),
published by CrunchCode Labs. Please read them together with the
Privacy Policy, which explains what information the app handles
and why.
Effective date: 7 November 2026
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing or using the app you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What the app is
Meritly is a free personal journal for recording good deeds. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, and it is not sold or monetised in any way. You can add merits with a date, description, categories and photos, search and filter them, view monthly and yearly insights, set goals with reminders, and optionally back up your data to your own Google Drive.
3. Your licence to use it
CrunchCode Labs gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal use, in line with these Terms and the rules of the store you obtained it from.
4. Your content
Everything you record in the app, including text and photos, belongs to you. You are responsible for what you add, and for having the right to use any photo you attach. Because your content is stored on your device and in your own Google Drive, CrunchCode Labs does not review, host or have access to it.
5. Acceptable use
When using the app, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law allows it
- Copy, republish or sell the app or its quotes, design or artwork
- Use the app for anything unlawful
6. Quotes
The reminders and home screen include quotations about doing good, drawn from religious, philosophical and literary sources and attributed where the source is known. They are included for encouragement and do not represent the views of CrunchCode Labs.
7. Third-party services
The optional backup feature uses Google Sign-In and Google Drive, which are governed by Google’s own terms and policies. CrunchCode Labs is not responsible for those services or for their availability.
8. Backups and your data
You are responsible for keeping backups of anything you want to keep. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes your merits from the device permanently, and restoring a backup replaces the data currently in the app. CrunchCode Labs cannot recover data that was never backed up.
9. Intellectual property
The app, including its name, logo, design, artwork and software, belongs to CrunchCode Labs. Except for the licence in section 3, these Terms give you no rights in the app or its branding.
10. No warranty
The app is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. CrunchCode Labs does not promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every device, or that reminders will always be delivered, since Android may delay or block notifications.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, CrunchCode Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including the loss of merits, photos or backups. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Updates and availability
The app may be updated, changed or withdrawn at any time. Some updates may be needed for the app to keep working.
13. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. CrunchCode Labs may end your licence if you break these Terms. Sections 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11 continue to apply afterwards.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising from them or from the app is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have under the laws of the country where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated when the app changes. The effective date above will change when they do, and significant changes will be noted in the Play Store release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
